Dear Pinnacle Mountain Property Association
Member:
Attached to this letter are the minutes from
the (Please refer to this link for minutes-
board meeting on January 21, 2006. In early July, you will receive the minutes
for the latest board meeting as well as important
information concerning the General meeting
scheduled for July 15, 2006. You have received
this information by US mail to insure everyone
is kept informed of our fire safety precautions
outlined in the remainder of this letter.
During the last couple of years, we
have
had two fires on the mountain. In one
instance,
a fire destroyed a home. In another
instance,
residents on the mountain extinguished
a
potentially dangerous grass fire. There
also
was a forest fire on the far side of
the
mountain bordering the REMC road. The
use
of helicopters was required to extinguish
this fire.
As board members, we are primarily
concerned
with the safety of all of the property
owners
and guests on the mountain and secondarily
the value of our homes and home sites.
The
board thought it was appropriate to
formally
remind everyone of the dangers of mountain
fires and provide some helpful hints
to prevent
fires and to improve the chances of
extinguishing
fires before they become uncontrollable.
With the dry conditions, we are currently
having in our area, it is especially
important
for all our members to have a high
level
of fire prevention awareness as we
enjoy
our beautiful mountain area.
Please refer to this link for- "Burning Regulations" which were reviewed and signed by all original
property owners. Please review this document.
We are requesting that all property owners
who have purchased their property from a
prior property association member review
the guidelines and return a signed copy to
our Treasurer, Ronnie Styles, at the address
indicated on the regulations. In addition,
please be aware as property owners, we are
responsible for the behavior of any persons
using our private properly. We are strongly
suggesting that you review the burning regulations
with any person using our property.
Some other prevention hints include:
-Be careful with the use of gas or
charcoal
grills. Using them under an overhang
can
be dangerous as the fire can spread
rapidly
through the home.
-Dumping of ashes should only be done
in
containers as outlined in the burning
regulations
or completely buried in the ground.
The grass
fire mentioned above started from unattended
ashes assumed to be completely out.
In reality,
these ashes smolder for a long period
of
time and a resulting wind can quickly
cause
a fire.
-Every home should have an outside
working
spicket. If possible, leave this outside
water connection turned on when away
from
the property. Any members with building
plans
should discuss this option with your
plumber.
This can be very helpful if the fire
is near
your property while you are away from
the
mountain.
-Every home on the mountain should
contain
at least one 5 pound ABC fire extinguisher.
Please keep this in a place that is
easily
accessible so any persons using the
home
would be able to find the extinguisher
quickly.
